Fireproof door installation: maintenance
After your fire door is installed, you will still need it checked on a regular basis. This may require repairs over the years. Maintaining your fire door is essential as it’s the only way you be sure of its ongoing effectiveness. At J&D Carpentry, we carry out regular fireproof door inspections. Afterwards, we issue a digital survey. This highlights areas that require upgrading and why this is the case.
All of our door fitters are Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) approved to install and maintain fire doors. Having a fireproof door installed by an unqualified fitter is highly risky. There may be gaps between the door and the frame with the result the fireproof door isn’t – fireproof that is.

Fireproof door installation: costs
An internal fire door for a domestic property comes in a variety of different guises. But all are designed to provide up to 30 minutes of fire protection (which is why they are called FD30s).
The majority of fire doors in a residential setting are fitted with a fire-resistant glass panel and cost around £500 to purchase. A high-spec version can cost up to £800.
Fire doors in domestic settings do tend to be more decorative than those you are likely to find in a warehouse, for instance. Then again, finding a solid unglazed fire door for domestic purposes is still possible. For this, you will probably pay around £300 and up to £450 for an upmarket version).
