It’s crucial that when you have a fire door installed, it is by a company who are accredited and approved fire door installers. At J&D Carpentry, we have the Exova BM Trada Q-mark – a certificate showing we are competent in both the manufacture and fitting of fire doors.
In addition, all of our fire door fitters are approved by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). This gives them the official go-ahead to install and maintain fire doors.

We insist on recording all our fire door installations for clients. This electronic document not only highlights when and where the fire door was fitted – and by whom – but also the materials used and the length of time it is expected to be fire resistant for. This process simplifies future upkeep and maintenance of the fire door, ensuring it gets done.
J & D Carpentry clients are also issued with a copy of this Record of Installation. This can then be passed on to their insurance company to prove the building is protected should a fire break out.
Types Of Fire Door
At J & D Carpentry, we are qualified to fit every type of fire door, from composite and timber to steel fire doors. Composite doors tend to be used mostly in residential settings, such as front doors in blocks of flats.
Timber and steel fire doors are used more commonly in commercial settings; the former is produced from both hardwood and softer woods. Steel fire doors are installed when extra protection is required.
