Building Regulations state that fire doors must perform to BS476-22 and BS EN 1634-1 standards. But, when it comes to working out your typical fire door fitting price, things aren’t quite as straightforward.
That’s because the cost of a fire door is determined by various factors. These include the type of fire door you choose, as well as any fittings and whether or not it contains glass. It also depends on whether or not your door has been fitted by a certified fire door installer.

Fire door fitting price: qualified installers
Here at J&D Carpentry, we are accredited fire door installers. This is by Exova BM Trada Q-mark, which is a respected certification body in the manufacture and fitting of fire doors.
Use an unqualified fire door installer, and your fire door may not provide the protection you and your staff – or tenants – need should a fire occur in the building. That’s because an ill-fitting fire door just isn’t effective, allowing deadly smoke to seep through into corridors and rooms.
The end result of which could be fatalities, as well as an insurance company which refuses to pay out because the fire door wasn’t fitted properly in the first place.
Fully Documented
All our customers are given an electronic document which lists when their fire door was fitted, by whom and when. We also provide a record of how long we believe the fire door should be resistant and recommend follow-up services and maintenance.
Every fire door we fit here at J&D Carpentry is given a number and a Certification sticker or plug, while customers receive a Record of Installation Activities (RIA) certificate for insurance purposes. This RIA can be added to the building’s Operation and Maintenance manual to ensure the fire door’s upkeep is carried out on a regular basis.
