When having fire doors fitted it is essential that you use an accredited fire door installer. At J&D Carpentry we are accredited by Exova BM Trada Q-mark – a recognised certification body in the manufacture and fitting of fire doors.
The problem with using a fire door installer who isn’t qualified is that your fire door may not provide the protection you and your staff – or tenants – need in the event of a fire in the building.
The testing of fire doors by fire experts in real-life conditions has shown that an ill-fitting fire door just isn’t effective, allowing deadly smoke to seep through into adjoining rooms. There is simply no point in having a fire door in such circumstances.
It also gives a false impression to those working in the building and one which can certainly prove fatal in the event of a fire.

Record Of Installation Activities
In order to assist with asset management, each fitted fire door is given a number and a Certification sticker or plug added. The customer then receives a copy of the Record of Installation Activities certificate. The idea of this is not simply to outline to the customer what work has been done, but also to allow him or her to prove to their insurance company the building in which the company operates is fire protected.
The company can also add the certification to their building manual with the result that future maintenance is made easier.
The Record of Installation Activities can then be added to any Operation and Maintenance manual of a building and will make future upkeep and maintenance of the fire door simpler.
