Fire Door Inspections

Regular Inspections

Most fire doors these days will have an average lifespan of around two decades. That is, providing they are inspected, repaired and maintained on a regular basis.

It’s not unreasonable to have your fire door inspected every six months, especially if there is a lot of traffic going through it.

After all, there is no point in having a fire door unless it does what it is designed to, i.e. prevent fire from spreading and saving lives as a means of passive fire protection.

Why call in the professionals?

Signs of age and repair in fire doors are usually in the hardware, i.e. the hinges, handles and other forms of door closures. The seals, too, can become worn over time.

So too can the wood on the fire door itself. It’s worth noting that most fire doors will have at least three hinges, and these can withstand the heat of around 800 degrees centigrade.

So, even if you’re tempted to, don’t try and change the hinges yourself – again, get a professional to do it. That’s because the components and hardware on the door are equally as important to prevent a fire from spreading as the door itself.

Accredited Fire Door Replacements

Get In Touch

When repairing a fire door, it has to be professionally done and with certified components (where appropriate CE approved). In the event the fire door no longer fits appropriately within the door frame then it will definitely have to be replaced. The same applies if there is a hole in the door.
