Each and every one of our clients here at J&D Carpentry is given a certification once their fire door is installed. This is known as a Record of Installation. An electronic document, it lists when the fire door was fitted, which individual did the fitting, and the materials they used. It will also record when the fire door itself needs replacing because it will no longer be deemed fire retardant.
The certificate allows the client to prove to their insurance company that the installation and doors are in line with the latest government requirements. And it also gives them peace of mind that they are within the law and that their staff and anyone else frequenting their building is protected should a fire break out.

All of our apprentice emergency door fitters are certified and approved by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). This means they are qualified to fit, service and maintain fire doors to the highest standards. As a team, we are also BM Trada Q-Mark accredited, meaning we can fit any type of fire door currently on the market, i.e. steel, timber or composite fire doors.
There are, for instance, specific requirements every registered fire door which is fitted should adhere to. The seals should be of a high quality, and there should be less than a three-millimetre gap between the door and frame. The door should also close automatically once it has been opened and an individual passes through it.
